SMM4, March 3: India's Orissa state mining ministry officials said the state's annual iron ore production is unlikely to be affected by the shutdown to stop the spread of the new crown epidemic.

Figures show that Orissa is India's largest iron ore producer.

Jena, co-head of mining, said Orissa produced 120 million tonnes of iron ore in the year to March 2019, up from 118 million tonnes the previous year and accounting for more than half of the country's iron ore production. It is also expected to produce 120 million tons of iron ore in 2020, and miners will increase production once production resumes.

However, analysts expect exports from India, the world's fourth-largest iron ore producer, to fall sharply and production in 2020 will be lower than in 2019.
