Secondary lead smelters in Taijiang Industrial Park were required to shut for rectification for 10 days from Dec 13

SHANGHAI, Dec 17 (SMM) – Secondary lead smelters in Taijiang Industrial Park, Guizhou province were required to suspend operations for rectification for 10 days from Friday December 13, due to pollution discharge issues.

This is likely to impact the production of secondary refined lead by more than 1,000 mt per day, according to sources.

The suspension will also reduce some consumption of feedstock battery scrap, but currently, smelters in other regions continue to report difficulty in securing cheap battery scrap.

SMM learned that secondary lead smelters in Taijiang Industrial Park used to purchase battery scrap at expensive prices, on the back of high freight charges and a tight market.
