China’s rebar production in May expands 23% on year: NBS

Inventories of rebar across Chinese steelmakers and social warehouses stood at 10.61 million mt as of May 20, down 4.5% from a week ago. Stocks are down 2.2% from a year earlier.

Inventories of rebar across Chinese steelmakers and social warehouses stood at 16.53 million mt as of March 25, down 4.51% from a week ago. From the time dimension of the lunar calendar, stocks are down 23% from a year earlier.

Social inventories of long steel (including wire rods and rebar) in Guangzhou increased 5.57%, or 123,500 mt, in the week ended March 3 to 2.34 million mt, showed SMM data. Stocks were 0.22% lower than the same period last year.

Primary lead output in China expanded significantly last month, as some large smelters recovered from maintenance and small and medium-sized smelters reopened after the spread of the coronavirus in the country came under control. China’s output of primary lead increased 11.94% from February to 240,000 mt in March, to produce a year-over-year decline of 7.03%. Output in the first three months of 2020 was 6.13% lower than the same period the year before.

Daily output of crude steel across China Iron and Steel Association member mills averaged 1.92 million mt during Feb 1-10

This will affect daily wire rod output by 2,000 mt and rebar production by 3,500 mt per day

Output stood at 63.73 million mt in Nov, up 16.1% from Nov 2017, but down 5.9% month on month

China produced 18.57 million mt of rebar in Nov, down 2.9% from Oct but up 10.14% from Nov 2017
