Iron ore shipments departing Australian, Brazilian ports rebound

Seventy-four vessels carrying 11.07 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports in the week ended Apr 11

SHANGHAI, Apr 18 (SMM) – Seventy-four vessels carrying 11.07 million mt of iron ore arrived at major Chinese ports in the week ended Thursday April 11, down 1.01 million mt from the previous week, SMM forecasted. Iron ore leaving ports in Australia and Brazil rose during the period. 

Last week, arrivals at ports in Tangshan shrank significantly, while cargoes that arrived at some ports in Shandong province nudged up. 

For the same week, iron ore shipments departing Australian ports increased 1.33 million mt, to stand at 14.62 million mt. Iron ore leaving Brazilian ports was expected to rebound by 1.71 million mt on the week, to 4.03 million mt.
