Greater arrivals slow declines in social inventories of primary aluminium

Stocks declined some 8,000 mt from Apr 4 to stand at 1.633 million mt as of Apr 8

SHANGHAI, Apr 8 (SMM) – Social inventories of primary aluminium in China saw a smaller decline over the weekend, as consumption remained at regular levels while more cargo arrived at social warehouses during the Qingming Festival.

SMM data showed that social inventories of primary aluminium across eight consumption areas in China, including SHFE warrants, came in at 1.633 million mt as of Monday April 8, down some 8,000 mt from Thursday April 4. The inventories shrank about 27,000 mt during April 1-4.

Shanghai – 293,000 mt

Nanhai, Guangdong – 374,000 mt

Gongyi, Henan – 145,000 mt

Hangzhou, Zhejiang – 123,000 mt

Tianjin – 58,000 mt

Linyi, Shandong – 27,000 mt

Chongqing –31,000 mt
