SHANGHAI, Mar 4 (SMM) – China should pursue an integrated development of new energy by constructing more photovoltaic (PV) and wind power generation facilities in the western region, and by supporting lithium-ion energy storage power stations in place, said Zeng Yuqun, a national political advisor and chairman of batterymaker Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL).
This will enhance resource efficiency, and increase the share of renewable energy’s installed capacity and power generation, he added.
Putting forward proposals to this year’s two political sessions, Zeng suggested that China should accelerate the transfer of electricity from the west to the east coast that faces energy shortages.
Zeng also highlighted the potential role and benefits of batteries for new-energy vehicles (NEV) as a distributed energy storage resource in a smart grid.
