China's new energy passenger car sales up 15% in April: CPCA

This followed the wholesale deliveries of new energy passenger cars nearly quadrupled from a month ago to 56,000 units in March, as the business recovered from the fallout from the coronavirus crisis. 

SHANGHAI, May 11 (SMM) – China’s wholesale deliveries of new energy passenger vehicles stood at 64,000 units in April, 30% lower from the same period last year but up 14.8% from a month ago, said the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on May 11. 


Among this, wholesale volumes of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 21,500 units in April, down 14% year on year, with the wholesale of pure electric cars falling 36% on the year to 42,300 units. 


Last month, Chinese automakers accounted for 61.4% of the NEV sales with joint ventures taking up 32.9%. 


CPCA data showed that wholesale deliveries of new energy passenger cars nearly quadrupled from a month ago to 56,000 units in March, as the business recovered from the fallout from the coronavirus crisis.
