End of Australian port maintenance to grow iron ore arrivals at Chinese ports

Seventy-three vessels with 10.67 million mt of iron ore will arrive at major Chinese ports in the week ended Jan 17

SHANGHAI, Jan 16 (SMM) – Seventy-three vessels carrying 10.67 million mt of iron ore are expected to arrive at major Chinese ports in the week ended Thursday January 17, up 1.14 million mt from the previous week, SMM data showed. Seaborne arrivals at major ports in Shandong province are likely to increase. 

For the same week, iron ore shipments departing Australian ports are expected to rebound by 560,000 mt from the prior week to 14.91 million mt as port maintenance ended. Iron ore leaving Brazilian ports are likely to extend decline by 180,000 mt to 7.52 million mt.
