SHANGHAI, Aug 22 (SMM) – Jiangxi Pinggang Industrial Holdings in Jiangxi province is likely to extend its suspension to the end of August, SMM learned on August 22.
Production of all seven blast furnaces has halted since August 12, after two blast furnaces of 450m³ and another of 1080m³ were suspended that day.
As of Monday August 6, five blast furnaces remained in hot idling mode as the provincial environmental bureau visited the city. The furnaces were expected to hot idle for two weeks but have not resumed production as of August 22.
This period of suspension is estimated to affect 17,000 mt of daily crude steel production.
