High-quality tin ores from the state of Wa in Myanmar will be insufficient to relieve shortages in China, SMM learned.

SHANGHAI, Jan 17 (SMM)-High-quality tin ores from the state of Wa in Myanmar will be insufficient to relieve shortages in China, SMM learned.

One trader in Yunnan said that supply from Myanmar will be limited as there has been no new mines in the Wa state since 2017, and that supplies of high grade ores have depleted.

He added that only about 30,000 mt of tin ores are available for exports to China this year.

Another trader said that he continues to face uncertainty over long-term contracts with smelters due to declining ore output.
