SHANGHAI, Aug. 18 (SMM) – Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong continued falling as of August 18 from a week earlier, SMM reports.

SHFE Base Metals Inventories (2017-8-18)

The biggest drop in inventories is seen in Tianjin. Inventories in Tianjin declined some 4,400 mt since continuous maintenance at north China-based smelters slashed arriving shipments. Besides, some downstream producers hoarded stocks in case of transportation restrictions for the National Games which will be held soon in Tianjin.

LME Base Metals Inventories (2017-8-18)

Total inventories in the three regions will grow slightly in the coming week, SMM predicts.
