China to Introduce New Pollutant Discharge License System for Iron&Steel Sector

China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) will release a new Technical Specification for Application and Issuance of Pollutant Permit for iron&steel sector in late July.

SHANGHAI, Jul. 12 (SMM) – China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) will release a new Technical Specification for Application and Issuance of Pollutant Permit for iron&steel sector in late July, involving the management of air and water pollutant discharge.

The MEP is expected to complete the application and issuance of pollutant permits for approximately 5,000 iron&steel enterprises (including about 650 iron&steel mills and 4,350 steel-making plants) before the end of 2018.
