China Motive Battery Market Reports Tight Supply, and to Ease in Mid and Late June, SMM Reports

Motive battery supply is tight in China's market and will ease in mid and late June.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 14 (SMM) – Leading motive battery producers raised prices again recently, such as 48v20Ah up to 500-550 yuan. Downstream distributors thus increase purchases with optimistic outlook, augmenting orders at battery producers.

However, many battery producers, halting and cutting output previously, report limited finished goods inventories. This, couples with production cycle, lengthens battery delivery cycle, which is postponed to 10-15 days from 3-5 days, and some goods ordered in May even have not arrived yet.

Most battery producers have expanded operating rate by 20-30% from June, and some producers are fully operational, SMM learns. Hence, battery supply will increase in mid and late June.

Sluggish Transactions in Domestic Secondary Crude Lead Market, Prices at 15,250-15,400 Yuan/mt
The domestic secondary crude lead market experienced sluggish transactions. As of February 6, 2026, the ex-factory tax-exclusive offers for domestic secondary crude lead stood at 15,250-15,400 yuan/mt. Downstream refined lead and alloy smelters gradually entered the holiday period, showing weak stockpiling willingness. Overseas lead ingot suppliers basically halted transactions with China due to poor consumption in the Chinese market, with only some previously concluded shipments maintaining normal in-transit transportation. The trading atmosphere in the secondary crude lead market will continue to weaken next week.
