Some Chinese zinc smelters will undertake maintenance cycle in June, and will hurt zinc production, SMM understands.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 7 (SMM) - Some Chinese zinc smelters will undertake maintenance cycle in June, and will hurt zinc production, SMM understands.

Influx of Imported Zinc to Weigh on Chinese Zinc Prices, SMM Reports

About 15,000 tonnes of zinc output will be affected after maintenance at these smelters, SMM said.

Some zinc smelters that conducted maintenance in May have yet to resume production, SMM added. Growth in China’s refined zinc output will be lower than expected in June.

Multiple factors drag down zinc oxide operating rates; downstream sector divergence makes demand growth hard to achieve

Entering October, affected by the National Day holiday and insufficient end-use orders, zinc oxide enterprises' production pace slowed down somewhat. From the downstream consumption perspective, rubber-grade zinc oxide demand was dragged by tire industry orders, ceramic-grade and feed-grade zinc oxide demand lacked growth, and electronic-grade zinc oxide, while relatively resilient, saw divergent order performance across different sub-segments.
