South32 Lowers Lead and Zind Output Forecast on Fire at Cannington Mine

Australian miner South32 announced on April 6 that the company has to cut lead output forecast due to fire at Cannington mine.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 7 (SMM) – Australian miner South32 announced on April 6 that the company has to cut lead output forecast due to fire at Cannington mine, which has been impacted by an underground blaze that damaged crucial infrastructure.

“Remediation work will be undertaken over four weeks and extraction of the high-grade silver and lead will be delayed,” the company said.

South32 lowers lead output target by 28,000 tonnes to 135,000 tonnes, zinc output by 10,000 tonnes to 70,000 tonnes, and that of silver is cut by 2.55 million ounce to 16.50 million ounce in 2017.
