NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States domestic raw steel production increased by 3.6 percentage to 1,770,000 net tons in the week ended on February 25, 2017 while the capability utilization rate was 74.7 percent, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

US domestic raw steel production was 1,709,000 net tons in the week ended February 25, 2016 while the capability utilization then was 73.1 percent. 

Raw steel production for the week ended February 25, 2017 is up 0.2 percent from the previous week ended February 18, 2017 when production was 1,766,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 74.6 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 25, 2017 was 13,836,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 73.0 percent. That is up 4.7 percent from the 13,221,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 70.8 percent.
