SHANGHAI, Aug. 9 (SMM) - Nyrstar’s refined zinc output was 507,000 tonnes in the first half of the year, down 9% year-on-year. But its lead production rose 12% year-on-year to 95,000 tonnes, SMM reports.
The company came under decreasing raw materials and sluggish zinc prices, which fell 16% compared to the same period of last year. Suspension and maintenance at its smelters also caused the slide in zinc production.
Its zinc concentrate and lead concentrate output was 65,000 tonnes (Zn content) and 3,200 tonnes (Pb content), respectively, in the same period, down 39% and 52% year-on-year.
