SHANGHAI, Jul. 7 (SMM) – China’s Qinghai Province aims to build a lithium industry chain during the 13th Five-Year Plan period from 2016-2020, Vice Governor of the province said.
The lithium industry chain is scheduled to worth RMB 100 billion ($ 14.97 billion). The lithium resources in China account for 1/3 of those in the world and lithium resources in Qinghai province claim 85% of those in the whole country.
As of the end of 2015, world’s lithium carbonate production was 180,000 tonnes per year. With development of electric vehicle industry, demand for lithium carbonate is expected to reach 350,000 tonnes.
