Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 11,400 to 415,700 tonnes this past week, SMM data show.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 1 (SMM) - Combined zinc inventories in Shanghai, Tianjin and Guangdong fell 11,400 to 415,700 tonnes this past week, SMM data show.

Maintenance at some zinc smelters precipitated slow shipments and limited arriving shipments of some brands. A few zinc smelters chose to deliver goods directly to downstream buyers, also reducing arriving shipments. At the same time, downstream purchases were active, adding to outward shipments.

Total inventories in the three regions should decline further next week due to maintenance at more zinc smelters and improving consumption, SMM says.
