China’s scrap battery trades will decline in this busy time for farm work, SMM predicts.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 3 (SMM) – China’s scrap battery trades will decline in this busy time for farm work, SMM predicts.

Scrap battery traders and some workers of secondary lead smelters will return to farm works, meaning both supply and demand for scrap batteries will decline, leaving the market quiet.

SMM also learned that thinner margins have discouraged secondary lead production recently.

Scrap batteries quoted as high as 7,700 yuan per tonne Shandong’s Dezhou and Binzhou, and price offers in Anhui also held elevated. Anhui Huaxin Group left its procurement prices for scrap batteries at 7,600-7,650 yuan per tonne.
