SHANGHAI, Jun. 4 (SMM) – Some secondary lead smelters in Shandong have suspended production, Shanghai Metals Market survey finds.
The closures are due mainly to tight supply of scrap battery, falling profits and worker shortages during the busy season, SMM says.
Utilization rates at secondary lead smelters in the region have dropped to around 40%, down from 50-60% in April, local scrap battery suppliers told SMM.
