LIMA (Scrap Monster): Guillermo Shinno, the Deputy Mines Minister, stated last week that, the copper production in Peru will show slight progress in the year 2014, than the previous year record of 1.375 million tonnes, as the production of the mines are kept on track.

He stated to the media that the mines in Peru are working on to reach their target of1.4 million tonnes of copper, slightly high from that of the previous year. He also added that, next year, that is the year 2015, the production of copper in Peru would be increased to about 1.8 billion tonnes.

But before that,on the month of September, the Deputy Minister of mines, stated that the production of copper in Peru in the year of 2015 would be nearly, 1.95 million tonnes, and the production of copper in the country, at the current year would be nearly 1.5 million tonnes. So far the copper production in the  country has risen to about 2.6 percent.

The creeping ramp in one of the prominent mines in Peru, Chinalco Mining Corp. is declining the chance of increase in copper production in the country.
Antamina, owned by the Glencore, BHP Billiton, Mistubhushi Corp and Teck, is facing concerns regarding the lower iron ore grade. The company will most probably regain the form by the beginning of next year, then the production of copper in the company would increase to 30 percent compared to the this year.
