Inbound shipments of tin ore to China were 7,732 tonnes during September, down 33.22% month-on-month, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

SHANGHAI, Oct. 29 (SMM) – Inbound shipments of tin ore to China were 7,732 tonnes during September, down 33.22% month-on-month, Shanghai Metals Market learns.

SMM attributes the sharp drop mainly to the monsoon season, which falls from June to September.  in Myanmar, the leading supplier.

The seasonal factor reduced the country’s outbound shipments of ore to China by 31.97% month-on-month to 7,638 tonnes in September, China customs data showed.

Rising price of Myanmar’s ore and bearish outlook from steady declines in LME tin prices also depressed Chinese buyers’ enthusiasm in imports, according to SMM.

As the monsoon season ends in Myanmar, China’s imports of tin ore are expected to grow in October, SMM foresees.
