CANTERBURY (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World steel), the crude steel production by EU-28 countries fell marginally by 1.7% during the month of September year-on-year.
The highest output during September was achieved by Germany. Germany produced 3.508 Million tonnes during the month, which is lower by 3.0% when compared with the country’s output of 3.618 Million tonnes during September 2013.
The lowest output was by Croatia. However, the total crude steel output by Croatia doubled from 10,000 tonnes in September 2013 to 20,000 tonnes in September this year. On a year-on-year basis, Croatia recorded the biggest increase in production.
Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Sweden and other EU-28 region recorded increased year-on-year crude steel production. Spain recorded biggest drop in production, falling by 12.8% from 1.330 Million tonnes in Sep ’13 to 1.160 Million tonnes in September this year.
The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first nine months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
