BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 65 member countries was 134.421 million tonnes (Mt) in September this year, 0.1% lower upon comparison with the production during same month the previous year.

The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during September this year was 14.125 Million tonnes (Mt), 1.7% lower than the September 2013 production of 14.366 Mt. Other European countries produced 3.090 Million tonnes of crude steel, down 2.2% when compared to 3.159 Million tonnes production achieved during September 2013. The CIS countries’ crude steel production dropped by 6.8% from 8.827 Mt to 8.230 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America was up by 1.1% from 9.960 Mt in September 2013 to 10.065 Mt in September this year.

The total crude steel production by South American region during September this year declined by 3.4% to 3.800 Mt. African countries produced 1.167 Million tonnes of crude steel, 10.8% down when compared to 1.309 Million tonnes production achieved during September 2013. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during September this year was 2.335 Million tonnes(Mt), higher by 8.4% when compared with the September 2013 output of 2.154 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production too increased marginally by 0.9% from 90.349 Mt to 91.205 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region plunged 10.2% from 0.450 Mt in September 2013 to 0.404 Mt in September this year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first nine months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
