Sea freight index at Baltic Exchange drops more to 738 points

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped more to below 750 points on Thursday as rates for bigger vessels continued to slip.

LONDON (Scrap Register): The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange for bigger vessels dropped more to below 750 points on Thursday as rates for bigger vessels continued to slip.

The overall index, which factors in average daily earnings of capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize dry bulk transport vessels, was down 17 points or 2.25 percent to 738 points.

The main sea freight index at Baltic Exchange is the rate which tracks for ships carrying dry bulk commodities.
