Inbound Shipments of Nickel Ore to China Surge 83% to 4.07 Mln Tonnes in May 2014

Inbound shipments of nickel ore to China totaled 4.07 million tonnes in May, up 83% from April, China Customs data showed.

SHANGHAI, Jun. 26 (SMM) – Inbound shipments of nickel ore to China totaled 4.07 million tonnes in May, up 83% from April, China Customs data showed. 

The data revealed that 38,900 tonnes of the material came from Indonesia, and this was because of the delay of customs clearance, SMM understood. No ore was shipped out from Indonesia after its export ban policy. 

The Philippines was the leading supplier of imported ore, contributing to 3.98 million tonnes.
