SHANGHAI, Jun. 4 (SMM) – Spot delivery of refined nickel in the Wuxi Stainless Steel Exchange Center reached 7,107 tonnes in May, exbxg.com reported today.
Such trading volumes, a record high, were due largely to the need to ease supply shortfalls after Indonesia introduced its export ban on unprocessed ores, the report added.
Chinese stainless steel producers have been actively participated in trading both for forward and spot-month refined nickel contracts in Wuxi market since Indonesia’s ban, to hedge against risks and to secure supply.
