UNITED STATES June 03 2014 NEW YORK (Scrap Register): United States shredded scrap prices remain unchanged week-on-week at $385 a long ton in the week ended May 30th this year, as per the latest figures released by the The Steel Index.
According to TSI, US Midwest shredded index (delivered mill) remained flat last week at $385 a long ton in the build up to the traditional buy week next week.
Market participants are generally expecting a large fall of around $20 a long ton on May's pricing, with many mills still holding large scrap inventories and scrap yards typically with a lot of material to offer to the market.
Small amounts of HMS #1 were already heard to be trading hands during the week at around a $20 a long ton discount to May's pricing.
