The Port of Huanghua in Hebei province imported 64,000 tonnes of bauxite, valued at $5.69 million, from Guinea for the first time.

SHANGHAI, Apr. 28 (SMM) – The Port of Huanghua in Hebei province imported 64,000 tonnes of bauxite, valued at $5.69 million, from Guinea for the first time, reported on April 24 by China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Guinea, in western Africa, is rich in mineral resources, with proven bauxite reserves reaching 7.4 billion tonnes, a third of world’s total, it said on its website.

After Indonesia introduced its ban on unprocessed ore exports early this year, local aluminum producers began to source bauxite from new suppliers.
