Six Industries Including Nonferrous Metal Will Implement Air Pollutant Special Emission Limits

The Ministry of Environmental Protection recently issued a notice, requiring enterprises in thermal power, iron & steel and petrochemicals to comply with Air Pollutant Special Emission Limits.

SHANGHAI, Mar. 11 (SMM) – The Ministry of Environmental Protection recently issued a notice, requiring enterprises in thermal power, iron & steel, petrochemicals, cement, non-ferrous metal and chemicals industries and coal-fired industrial boilers in 47 major cities and municipalities to comply with Air Pollutant Special Emission Limits.

The regions to implement Air Pollutant Special Emission Limits cover 47 major cities in 19 provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Henan, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.  

New projects in thermal power and iron & steel industries will begin compliance on April 1, 2013, while projects in petrochemicals, chemicals, nonferrous metal, cement industries, and coal-fired industrial boiler projects will begin compliance once corresponding standards are issued. The Air Pollutant Special Emission Limits is targeted at existing enterprises in thermal power, steel & iron, petrochemicals industries and coal-fired industrial boiler projects in main downtown areas of 47 major cities and municipalities during the 12th Five-Year Plan period and will cover all jurisdiction of above cities during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
