SHANGHAI, Jul. 2 (SMM) – An earthquake occurred in Xinjiang's Yili Prefecture, but according to SMM survey of 10 silicon metal producers there, local production was not affected at all since focus of the earthquake was comparatively far from these producers.
The 6.6-magnitude earthquake broke out in the boarder of Xinjiang's Xinyuan County and Jing County.
There are nearly 20 silicon metal producers in Xinjiang, mainly concentrating in Yili Prefecture.
According to sources, as temperatures between day and night in Xinjiang are high, people there have strengthened performance against disasters including earthquake when establishing factories or building houses.
