SMM Morning Review - 2012/5/17 Zinc Market

LME zinc prices overnight fluctuated between USD 1,900-1,930/mt during Asian trading hours.

SHANGHAI, May 17 (SMM) – LME zinc prices overnight fluctuated between USD 1,900-1,930/mt during Asian trading hours. Due to concerns that the euro zone will collapse, and since European central bank affirmed to suspend refinancing operation to some banks of Greece, combined with the US dollar index remaining at 81, LME zinc prices fell below USD 1,900/mt level and closed at USD 1,889/mt, down USD 39.5/mt. Trading volumes increased by 1,467 lots to 9,152 lots, and total position decreased by 4,956 lots to 269,434 lots.
