SHANGHAI, Feb. 6 (SMM): “Focus on What You Track” is the core of the 2012 Shanghai Copper & Aluminum Summit, which is to be held from March 21 to 23 this year. The Shanghai Copper & Aluminum Summit continues to draw wide attention this year following previous six years of success, and that does have reasons:

Reason 1: Global economic recovery has been faltering plagued by the European debt crisis and the US debt issue. A slowdown in China, the world’s second largest economy, is also seen. Global economic uncertainty is even high this year. Under such circumstance, how can steady growth be maintained for copper and aluminum industries and how will the two transform to cope with uncertainty? The answers are expected from the Shanghai Copper & Aluminum Summit this year.

Reason 2: Following recent release of “12th Five-Year Plan” for the Chinese nonferrous metals and aluminum industries, attention has been paid to China's bid for an energy-saving and environment-friendly society, which means stronger pressure for copper and aluminum industries from energy resources and ecologic environment sides. Industry players are in urgent need of transformation paths, especially when “to strengthen heavy metals pollution prevention and treatment” is included in top 5 tasks of the “12th Five-Year Plan”, which may directly determine continuation of copper and aluminum businesses.

Reason 3: Forecasts for fundamentals and prices have been an advantage of SMM and also a characteristic of the Shanghai Copper & Aluminum Summit. The summit will present new breakthroughs in content and form this year, apart from features already recognized by industry players.

The 2012 (7th) Shanghai Copper & Aluminum Summit” looking forwarded to will be co-held by SMM and Shanghai Nonferrous Metals Industry Association. Participants this year are expected to surpass 600. Backed by organizers’ 15 years of professional background, this year’s Copper & Aluminum Summit will draw wide attention and develop it into the year’s most influential information platform.
