SMM Daily Review - 2011/9/21 Shanghai Gold Markets

Most active SHFE 1112 gold contract closed at RMB 375.2/gr, up RMB 7.22/gr or 1.96% from previous trading day. SGE Au9999 spot gold closed at RMB 374.61/gr, up RMB 5.29/gr or 1.43%.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 21 (SMM) -- Most active SHFE 1112 gold contract opened RMB 5.41/gr higher on September 21st and closed at RMB 375.2/gr, up RMB 7.22/gr or 1.96% from previous trading day. Highest and lowest prices during the day were RMB 375.54/gr and RMB 371.73/gr. Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) Au9999 spot gold closed at RMB 374.61/gr, up RMB 5.29/gr or 1.43% from previous trading day.

Global gold prices closed higher overnight with increased haven demand, and Shanghai gold prices opened slightly higher today. The metal remained strong during the day and widened gains at the tail of trading. As investors are waiting for results of the Fed interest rate meeting, market transactions were sparse.
