China's Auto Sales Up 2.18% in Jul

China's auto sales increased 2.18% year on year but fell 11.19% month on month to 1.27 million units in July this year

Aug. 15, 2011 (China Knowledge) - China's auto sales increased 2.18% year on year but fell 11.19% month on month to 1.27 million units in July this year, according to the latest statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles were 1.01 million units and 263,500 units, down 8.78% and 19.36% month on month, respectively.

In the first seven months of this year, China's auto sales hit 10.6 million units, up 3.22% year on year. China's passenger car sales totaled 8.12million units during the period, up 5.89% from the same period of last year. Commercial vehicle sales totaled 2.48 million units, decreasing 4.68% year on year.

Sales of passenger cars with engines of 1.6 litres or below increased 6.62% year on year to 5.59 million units in the first seven months, accounting for 68.6% of the total passenger car sales.

During the period from January to July, the country's auto output rose 2.33% year on year to 10.46 million units.

Sales of the top five auto makers in China, SAIC Motor Corp Ltd<600104>, Dongfeng Motor Corp, FAW Group, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd<000625> and BAIC Group, accounted for 71.42% of the country's total.
