China’s June Zinc output Up 6.91% to 446.7 kt

SHANGHAI, Jul. 28 (SMM)--According to data from CNIA, domestic zinc output in June was 446.7 kt, up 6.91%. Accumulated output from January through June was 2.53 million mt, up 2.14% YoY.

According to a SMM survey of 42 domestic major zinc smelters, the average operating rate in June was 77.07%, up from 76.08% in May. Operating rates at Inner Mongolia and Hunan province rose by 24% and 11% respectively.

Increases in output in June were mainly from Hunan, Yunnan, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia. The output in Hunan province grew 12 kt since smelters in Xiangxi area progressively restarted production.

According to the survey, the average operating rate at zinc smelters in Hunan province was 76% in June, up 11% from May’s 65%. The average operating rate at smelters in Xiangxi area was 68%, up 25% from May’s 43%, which is the largest contributor of zinc output in Hunan province.
