BHP Billiton Jumps Most in a Month on Record Copper Price

Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) --BHP Billiton Ltd., the world’s largest mining company, rose the most in a month and touched the highest price since July 2008 as copper surged to record levels.

BHP Billiton added 10 rand, or 3.8 percent, to 273.50 rand as of 2:47 p.m. in Johannesburg.

Copper reached a peak of $9,014 a metric ton, a 2.8 percent gain on the previous day, before trading at $8,994.75 on the London Metal Exchange.

The industrial metal made up $10.4 billion, or 19.7 percent, of the company’s revenue in the financial year ended June.
