Flat Operating Rates at China’s Lithium Cobalt Oxide Producers in October MoM

SHANGHAI, Nov. 19 (SMM) -- SMM conducted a survey at operating rates at 13 lithium cobalt oxide producers in October, covering capacities of 2,440 mt/m. According to the results, operating rates were 79%, unchanged from a month earlier.

According to lithium cobalt oxide producers, output in October was almost the same compared to September’s level. One lithium cobalt oxide producer reported higher output. Some producers reported flat output from a month earlier, but most producers reported that output in October was not optimistic.

Some producers told that they were inclined to purchase certain raw material in the following tow or three months in order to replenish stocks to guarantee production demand. However, they will still only made purchases on an as-needed basis to avoid risks due to concern that prices may continue weakening in the future.
