







Lima, Jun 20, 2010 (EFE via COMTEX) -- Peru's mining exports surged 51 percent during the first four months of this year, compared to the same period in 2009, totaling $6.5 billion, the Energy and Mines Ministry said.
Mining exports accounted for 60 percent of the Andean nation's total commodity exports, which, according to official projections, should return to the $31 billion level in 2010.
Copper exports doubled during the January-April period, compared to the same period in 2009, to $2.6 billion.
Gold exports rose 23 percent to $2.46 billion, the Energy and Mines Ministry said.
Zinc exports soared 119 percent in the January-April 2010 period to 407,277 tons worth $527 million. EFE
