Outokumpu Begins Operating Stainless Steel Service Center in China

SHANGHAI, June 1 -- Finland-based Outokumpu Oyi (OUT1V.HE) began operating a stainless steel service center in China Tuesday, which is expected to have an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tons, the company said in a statement.

It said the service center, located in Kunshan city in Jiangsu province, will process stainless coil and plate to mainly offer special grade stainless steel for applications in the energy, petrochemical, transportation and pulp and paper sectors.

Outokumpu is one of the world's largest stainless steel producers and owns the world's largest stainless steel manufacturing plant.

At present, there are 24 iron and steel joint enterprises in Shanxi, China. In 2021, the pig iron output was 59.884 million mt, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%; Crude steel output was 67.407 million mt, up 1.6% year-on-year; The output of steel products was 61.739 million mt, which was basically the same as that of the previous year.
