BEIJING, May 12 -- China sold 4.8 million household appliances for a total of RMB 10 billion in rural areas last month. Sales revenue from household appliances in April was 3.6 times that of the same month of 2009 and exceeded the previous month's sales revenue from household appliances, which was RMB 12.4 billion, according to Ministry of Commerce.
TV sales reached RMB 3.2 billion, followed by refrigerator sales, which hit RMB 3.2 billion, and computer sales, which totaled RMB 1 billion.
In the rural areas of Henan Province, RMB 1.6 billion worth of household appliances were sold in April. Anhui Province's sales were RMB 880 million, Shandong Province's were RMB 760 million, Hebei Province's were RMB 660 million and Hubei Province's were RMB 650 million.
The top five brands by sales volume were Haier, Hisense, Skyworth, Konka and TCL.
In the first four months of this year, China sold 20.84 million household appliances for a total of RMB 41.71 billion, sources reported.
