China April CPI Rises 2.8%

BEIJING, May 11 -- China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, increased by  2.8 percent year-on-year in April, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced today.

The rise was 0.4 percentage point higher than the previous month, which saw a 2.4 percent increase year-on-year.
