Construction of World's First Flexible DC Ultra-High-Voltage Transmission Project Begins in Hangzhou

On March 6, construction officially began on the first line section of the Gansu-Zhejiang ±800 kV ultra-high-voltage DC transmission project, a key project under China's 14th Five-Year Plan for power development, in Shuanglin Village, Huanshan Township, Fuyang District, Hangzhou City.

The Gansu-Zhejiang ultra-high-voltage project is not only the world's first flexible DC ultra-high-voltage transmission project but also the fourth "West-to-East Power Transmission" project to land in Zhejiang. As a critical component of China's energy strategy, the project is expected to effectively facilitate the transmission of clean energy from western regions, alleviate the supply-demand imbalance in east China's power sector, and provide strong power support for the economic and social development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
