SHANGHAI, Apr 11 (SMM) - China’s ternary cathode precursor output was 54,536 mt in March, down 17% month-on-month and 15% year-on-year. Demand from digital electronics and e-bike sectors was relatively stable. With NEV market showing no signs of recovery and raw material prices in a downward cycle, downstream players in the industry chain tried to clear their inventories, hurting the demand for precursors. Precursor plants maintained low operating rates in response to slack demand and some were even shut down, with no plans to re-open in April. The overseas ternary cathode precursor market is also showing a downward trend.
