CATL Reports Mid-Year Revenue Drop Amid Intense Industry Competition & Cost Pressures

CATL Reports Negative Revenue Growth in Mid-Year Report: As automakers engage in increasingly fierce price wars, influenced by factors such as overcapacity and declining prices of lithium batteries, battery giant CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited) experienced a decline in revenue and an increase in profits during the first half of this year, with its revenue scale down 11.88% year-on-year. Analyzing the figures quarter by quarter, CATL has reported shrinking revenue for three consecutive quarters. Although it still maintains the top market share, CATL's flagship product, the power battery system, experienced a 19.2% decline in revenue during the first half of the year, dragging down overall income. Driven by the need to reduce costs, more and more automakers are choosing to develop their own batteries to control costs. Coupled with the increased production capacity of competitors in the industry, CATL's market position is facing a series of challenges.
