At the 2024 NET ZERO Photovoltaic Industry Conference, Shen Wenzhong, Director of the Solar Energy Research Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, stated that the dividends of TOPCon have passed, and TBC will lead the next generation of technological development. Grasping the opportunity of TBC has the potential to make companies the leading enterprises in the next round.
In 2023, the annual shipment of BC products reached 8-9GW, and in the first half of 2024, BC shipments approached 12GW, exceeding the total output of the entire previous year. It is projected that the annual shipment in 2024 will exceed 30GW. With the support of mature PERC, TOPCon, and HJT industrialization platforms, as well as the upcoming cost reductions from laser patterning and non-silver (copper and aluminum) metallization applications, the leading role of enterprises and the comprehensive development of the industrial chain will propel the rapid development and popularization of T(H)BC technology in China.
