The gold market continued to receive support from central banks as countries continued to build up their gold reserves in February, the strongest start to a year since at least 2010, according to the latest data from the World Gold Council.
Global gold reserves rose by 52 mt in February, the association said on Tuesday, the 11th straight month of growth.
In January, central banks bought 74 mt of gold.
Last year's purchases reached a record 1,136 mt.
