Institution: global gold mineral production fell by 5.4% in 2020

GlobalData said that due to the impact of the epidemic, there was a significant decline in global gold mining production in 2020.

Gold mine production for the whole of last year fell 5.4 per cent year-on-year to 108 million ounces, according to the agency.

Due to the impact of the global epidemic, many gold mines have to stop their operations, and the output of gold deposits has declined in some areas due to the limitations of environmental protection factors.

In addition, the agency expects global gold mine production to grow at a compound annual rate of 2.9 per cent from 2021 to 2024, rising to 124.1 million ounces by 2024.
