[Solar: U.S. DOE Doubles Down on Space Solar Cell Manufacturing R&D]

Published: Sep 14, 2026 09:11
The U.S. Department of Energy is seeking space solar cell manufacturing solutions that combine low mass, radiation tolerance and durability, with plans to fund 7 to 11 R&D projects. The space economy is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2040. Conventional space cells rely on germanium and other critical minerals, and next-generation technologies are working to remove that dependency.

[Solar: Massachusetts Imposes Clean Power Rules on Large Data Centers]
The U.S. state of Massachusetts has introduced new rules requiring new data centers above 25 MW to secure additional clean electricity or pay into a fund that helps offset costs for ratepayers. The rule ties data center expansion directly to clean energy buildout. With AI-driven computing demand lifting power loads, a growing number of U.S. states are rolling out similar requirements.
